Cristóbal Soler, new Artistic Director of the Cuenca Religious Music Week (SMRC)
Conductor Cristóbal Soler has been chosen by the Patronage of Religious Music Week as the new Artistic Director of the veteran Festival of Cuenca, which next Easter will celebrate its 56th edition.
Cristóbal Soler has been unanimously chosen, with the support of all the members of the jury for "his curriculum, professional career and the quality of his artistic project", as it was reported in a press release by the City of Cuenca, which forms this Board along with the Government Of Castilla-La Mancha, the Provincial Council, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Globalcaja Foundation and the Bishopric. On receiving the news by Ángel Mariscal, President of the Board of Trustees and Mayor of Cuenca, Cristóbal Soler has accepted the appointment and is committed to begin to work "with all his love, passion, enthusiasm and energy in order to defend an international project open to society, featuring Cuenca at the highest level”. It has just started the preparations for the 56th edition of one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals of religious music in the national and international scene.
From the City Hall, they have highlighted that this designation concludes the selection process that has begun last August and which have had forty-one candidates, from which only six went to the second phase and has been chosen from a third of finalists. A process that according to the Patronage has had a high participation and also a high level.
