18 Feb Brassurround, the closing concert
Belonging to the Brassurround, Festival Spanish Brass, Cristobal Soler conducts the closing concert performing works for brass orchestra. It is the case of the play Wiener Philharmoniker Fanfare , a powerful brass and percussion fanfare that Richard Strauss composed for this prestigious orchestra in 1924. The program includes other interesting works of contemporary composers such as José Suñer Oriola (Menu pour quatre) and Henry Tomasi (Fanfarres liturgiques) among famous works by S. Prokofiev (ballet Romeo and Juliet, in an brass arrangement by J. Creiner), and Modest Mussorgsky´s most well-known suite Pictures at an Exhibition. This time we will not listen to the orchestration by M. Ravel, but the arrangement made by E. Howarth for brass orchestra.
Under Soler´s baton three of the most important brass sections in our country join their forces and talent to perform this demanding program: Spanish Brass, Solistes de Metalls i Percussió de l’Orquestra de Valencia and Solistes de Metalls de l’Orquestra de les Arts.
The concert will take place next Sunday 19th at the Auditori de Torrent.
