CRISTOBAL SOLER CONDUCTS AND RECORDS FOR SONY PLAYS BY FALLA AND GRANADOS WITH O.C.G.
Cristobal Soler is now in Granada, amid rehearsals of two concerts and the recording for the label Sony.
The selection of symphonic works includes the mime-play in two tableaux El Corregidor y La Molinera (The Governor and the Miller´s wife), first version of the future ballet The Three-cornered Hat, by Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), based on the famous novel of the same title by Pedro Antonio de Alarcón.
As a tribute to Enric Granados (1867-1916) on the centenary of his death, Soler includes the works: Dance for the Green Eyes, written for the New York debut of dancer Antonia Mercé "La Argentina"; Elisenda, Suite for chamber orchestra with piano obligatto in three parts (1.Elisenda´s garden, 2.Trova -to Pau Casals-, 3. Elisenda); The triptych of songs The Sorrowful Majas, I, II, III (orchestration by C. Soler) and the operatic scene "The Maja and the nightingale", from Goyescas. Cristóbal Soler conducts the OCG, City of Granada Orchestra, with the participation of mezzo-soprano Lorena Valero and pianist Douglas Riva for the works by Falla and Granados.
Two concerts will take place next Friday 25 at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada and on Saturday 26 at the Gran Teatro Falla (Spanish Music Festival of Cadiz).
